The UK's Ban on Disposable Vapes Has Taken Effect On June 1st
2025-06-15

On June 1, 2025, the UK’s ban on disposable vapes officially took effect, prohibiting the sale of such products both in physical retail stores and online channels nationwide.

According to the latest data from the charity Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), the proportion of UK vapers primarily using disposable devices dropped from 30% in 2024 to 24% in 2025. Among vapers aged 18–24, the usage rate of disposable devices decreased from 52% in 2024 to 40% in 2025. The UK government stated that these numbers will continue to decline as the disposable vape ban takes effect.

As part of strict enforcement measures, any vendor violating the regulations will face an initial fine of £200 (approximately ¥1,944 RMB), and all products will be confiscated. Those who flagrantly disregard the rules and reoffend will be subject to either unlimited fines or imprisonment.

Before the ban came into force, the UK government worked closely with retailers to ensure preparedness, including providing clear guidelines on prohibited devices and how to clear out inventory by June 1.

According to reports, this ban supplements the UK’s *Tobacco and Vapes Bill* and aims to further address youth vaping while tackling the environmental hazards posed by disposable e-cigarettes.
